iving a healthy life has been of central concern to Haven Logan since she she faced a life-threatening illness in childhood. She responded to concerns expressed by others that “her choices would be limited by her poor health,” with a life-long determination to create good health by taking care of herself and a commitment to helping others take care of themselves.

n 2002 Haven’s book Choosing to Be Well: A Conscious Approach to a Healthier Lifestyle was published by Inner Ocean Publishing. Haven interviewed a wide variety of people for this book who had dealt with health problems and had overcome their blocks to doing the things they knew they should for their health. In this book she reveals four keys which can help you achieve better health, deal with weight issues, and cope with specific health problems.
aven’s second book The California Wine Country Diet: The Indulgent Approach to Managing Your Weight was published by Quill Driver Books in 2005. With this book, Haven says that she came full circle back to the joys of food she experienced as a child. She first learned to love a wide variety of foods through her father who was a gourmet chef and Vice President of General Foods in charge of research and development. She relates that she looked forward to the nightly adventure of trying new delicacies such as bird's nest soup and dehydrated meats being tested for space flights, proudly proclaiming that “there was no food I wouldn’t try.”
aven writes a newspaper column called Healthy Living which has laid the foundation for her website HealthyLivingforEveryone.com. She believes that a healthy lifestyle is multi-faceted. It has as much to do with our attitudes, as with our diet and exercise habits. Each column explores a different aspect of our lives, from knowing how much water we need to drink to why we’re taking fewer vacations. Practical suggestions and resources for further investigation are given with each column.
aven’s educational background includes a B.A. in sociology from Barnard College at Columbia University, a master’s degree in education from Bank Street College of Education, a master’s degree in social work from the University of Southern California, and a Ph.D. in psychology from International College. As a psychotherapist and program director she has specialized in the treatment of eating disorders, weight management, and other health issues for over 25 years. She has spoken about these subjects to hundreds of groups, as well as, on radio and television.
